How to improve your site speed
Before you start making any changes to your website make sure that you are backing up your website.
Let’s start by having a look at what your website’s site speed is right now. We can do that by using Google’s PageSpeed insights.
- Go to https://pagespeed.web.dev/
- Enter the URL of the page you want to check. It’s good to start with your most important pages. For example your homepage.
- Click Analyse
- This will then show you:
- What real users are experiencing (this may have no data if you do not have enough visitors)
- The performance of your page measured off a single page load using Lighthouse
Core Web Vital Metrics
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
- First Input Delay (FID)
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)
